About MVS
Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics (MVS) at Cal State Channel Islands provides and supports students majoring in business and economics through effectively engaging education. The school has three academic programs at the university, such as Business, Economics, and a Master's in Business Administration. Within the academic programs, there are minors and finance, marketing, and management options.
The Challenge
This was my first Account Manager role, and I knew I had to deal with content direction and management. It was my job to improve the MVS accounts' metrics.

The Outcome
As the MVS's Social Media Account Manager, I set weekly meetings for my social media team to discuss content, progression, metrics, opportunities, etc. These meetings made me understand the progress and what I need to do for my team to move forward.
In the Fall of 2021, the social media accounts faced low followers and engagement growth. It was my job to lead content brainstorming with my team, which meant striving for new content to test out. Since it is for MVS, we wanted business school-centric content for students, faculty, alumni, and prospective students.
Relying on data analytics, follower feedback, and research, my team and I came up with engaging content that would boost the business school's social media efforts and hit goals.
Since, at the time, there were Student Spotlights, I thought of an idea to develop Alumni Spotlights to share with the MVS audience about Alumnis' time at CSUCI, occupation after graduation, tips, and an inspirational quote they would like to share with students.
It was perfect for the business school since MVS wanted business and audience-centric content.

This type of content was the key to gaining followers, engagement, and interactions since many alumni share their spotlights on their social media accounts. As a result, the business school received significant engagement rates and followers.
This type of content was the highlight of my social media experience. My supervisor for this project was proud and impressed that this idea was successful since it brought in more followers and interactions to MVS's social media accounts.
As a former Account Manager for Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics, I learned the process of social media management and what it takes to create content effectively while planning and organizing ahead of time from posting.
